IT workers get a bad rap when it comes to communicating. In reality, everyone has trouble. Nevertheless, the highly specialized nature of IT work and the rigorous logic it requires can translate into a terse or rude interpersonal style. This course focuses on common barriers to effective communication between IT and non-IT workers. It will examine techniques for long-term relationship development and use hands-on exercises to practise key skills and strategies for applying them in day-to-day work.

• Attitude: do I really need to smile at dummies?
• First appearances: yes, they matter
• Mirroring: evolution in action
• All they do is complain: derail them with active listening
• Interpersonal algorithms: networks, calendars, and happy clients

This interactive course includes following exercises:

• Initiative negotiation (introducing a tool/service)
• Negotiation in the course of the cooperation (identification of client`s needs, scope of the cooperation definition)
• Cooperation termination (solution defense and acceptance)
